My painting combines representation and abstraction within the same frame. Abstraction emerges as visual recognition subsides. Representation alludes to the known and abstraction, the unknown. Allowing the abstract to remain unknown evokes transcendence.

Articulating an inner terrain, my abstract landscapes attempt to portray the sacred through the world of the senses. Specifically, I am trying to show how physical reality can express the less tangible realms of thought and emotion. Aesthetics are pressed into service to penetrate beneath the surface and suggest lyrical vitality.

I investigate space through form, color and light. The irrepressible energy of gesture and the break down of form can be simultaneously found in my work and in nature. I'm painting new space, in celebration of substance and spirit.
